Just 3 Miles north of Mobile, Alabama, the Terminal boasts 17 acres of paved reinforced concrete, three forest products grade transit sheds totalling 100,000 square feet, three cargo berths, one lay berth, and a 10 car rail siding. Mobile Marine Terminal is rail served by the TASD railroad connection with the CSX, NS, BNSF, ICG, and KCS railroads. A wholly-owned subsidiary of Crimson Shipping Co., Inc., Mobile Marine Terminal was established in 1999 to enhance Crimson Shipping's ability to better serve its customers. Our Jones Act American Flag Vessels: Crimson Shipping Co., Inc. owns three American flag RORO warehouse barges: The Crimson Ace (formerly know as the Helen S.) with dimensions of 250' long, 80' wide, and 17' molded depth with interior loading space of 230' long, 72.5' wide, and 22' high, carrying 5,200 metric tons on 13.5' draft. The Crimson Clover (formerly known as the Helen II) with dimensions of 278' long, 80' wide, and 18' molded depth, with interior loading space of 250' long, 72.5' wide, and 22' high, carrying 6,200 metric tons on a 14.8' draft. The Crimson Tide (formerly known as the Helen III) with dimensions of 320' long, 80' wide, and 18' molded depth with interior loading space of 272' long, 73' wide, and 26.5' high, carrying 7,200 metric tons on 14.5' draft. All barges are equipped with two MACGREGOR hydraulic combination ramp/doors/ enabling a highly efficient roll-on/roll-off operation. The barges have door openings of 20' - 22' wide and 17' high. The Ro/Ro ramps are 47' long. The unique warehouse style roofs are secured to ABS watertight binwalls and are constructed of Rubb material, a lightweight PVC-coated kevlar material which can withstand 110+ knot winds and all sea conditions. The translucent roof systems admit light, enhancing the work environment while loading and discharging. The barges are equipped with state of the art blowers, ventilation, and lighting systems. In addition to the three aforementioned Ro/Ro warehouse barges, Crimson Shipping Co., Inc. operates several US flag ships and barges on an as-needed basis, primarily for the purpose of serving U.S. exporters seeking EX-IM Bank financing. Crimson Shipping Co., Inc. also provides customers with deep draft U.S. Flag ships and ocean-going barges for the purpose of transporting wood chips, iron and steel products, and other dry bulk and breakbulk commodities moving in significant volumes. Foreign Flag Vessels:Crimson Shipping Co., Inc. operates foreign flag vessels in our regular service. All Crimson charters are cargo friendly with each vessel positioned to suit the individual needs of a specific trade lane.
